Winter Time Pool Maintenance in Dallas Texas

Fall is officially here and so are the cooler temperatures. The biggest thing that this means is there is going to be a big change in how you take care of your swimming pool. For many, it’s a time to take a break with your pool after constant maintenance, high chemical use, and of course numerous bathers which drastically changes your water chemistry. Fall means, your pool water temperature will change quickly, it means you can save some money on pool maintenance, and it ultimately means less work for you. At Weber Pools, we want to highlight what those changes are but we want to make sure you all know that there still is work to be done. Even though you might not be swimming anymore, weekly maintenance still needs to occur. This means, you still need to brush the steps, benches, and interior finish of the swimming pool. You still need to remove debris as soon as possible and empty out the skimmer and pump basket. If heavy storms occur, you still need to vacuum from time to time but where maintenance changes are with water chemistry and filtration run times.

During the summer, your pool water needs to filter for the maximum numbers of hours. This usually means 8 hours or more depending on the size of your swimming pool whereas, during the fall and wintertime this can be lowered to 4 – 6 hours. Another major change is going to be with your sanitizer. Typically, during the summertime, you will need to make sure your chlorine levels are  3 – 5 parts per million (ppm) because algae love warm water but when the water is colder those levels can be lowered to 1 – 3 ppm. Typically, 1 or 2 ppm will be plenty and you will find that it doesn’t wear off as quickly. Between these two factors, you can save a fair amount of money.

As always, your swimming pool is your investment and it should be cared for regularly. Whether or not you are using them they still need to be cared for and cleaned to prevent scaling, staining, and other issues. The best news it will be easier for you and most importantly, you can save a few dollars as well.
