Excellent Water Quality and Swimming Pools
Do you enjoy swimming in public pools? If you live in an apartment/condo complex, a community association, or frequent any public pools this blog post is important for you to understand. That is why in this blog post we want to give you some insight into the reasons why you should be concerned and how you can educate yourself on why it’s important to swim in excellent water quality. Unfortunately, just because a swimming pool is clear and blue doesn’t mean that it’s always safe to swim in. One of the biggest reasons why water isn’t always safe to swim in is because of waterborne diseases. Some of the most common waterborne diseases are listed below….
- Campylobacteriosis is a bacterium with symptoms of diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever.
- Cholera is a bacterium with symptoms of muscle cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea.
- Cryptosporidium is a bacterium with symptoms of diarrhea, stomach cramps, upset stomach, and slight fever. This is also the most common waterborne disease.
- Typhoid fever is a bacterium with symptoms of fever, headache, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and an abdominal rash.
These waterborne diseases most commonly get into the water because of urination or defecation. As parents, when swimming in commercial pools this should be of concern because even with normal to high levels of chlorine these waterborne diseases will not be killed. So, any type of oral contact could cause one of the above so we ask you to keep those symptoms in mind and if your children exhibit any of them, you will want to contact your doctor, urgent care or head to the emergency room.
This is why it’s extremely important to shower before and after you enter the pool. Bathers should never enter the swimming pool if they are not feeling well, and all bathers should never swallow any water. At Weber Pools, we are proud of the fact that we can help any swimming pool owners with water quality and waterborne diseases. We have a mobile filtration system that is equipped with Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes to provide you with drinking quality water. Since the filtration system is mobile, it comes to you. You will never have to worry about exposing the interior finish of the swimming pool nor will you have to deal with any downtime because you can swim in the pool while the process is being performed. So, if you like to swim in commercial pools, make sure you educate your kids and ask them to call us today to make sure you’re swimming in the highest quality of water possible!
