Weekly Pool Service and Maintenance In Dallas

Now that fall is here, the holidays are just around the corner, and you are no longer swimming, many people will simply stop taking care of their swimming pool. Or they will just put a chlorine tab in their floater and walk away. Either one of these makes us cringe and simply put there is more work that needs to be done. Keep in mind that even though you aren’t actually swimming, keeping it clean is still extremely important. Trust us when we say many do it yourself swimming pool cleaners usually let their pools go during the wintertime or they don’t clean them nearly as much as they should. Since you aren’t swimming it is easy to forget about it but long-term damage can occur if you don’t maintain it.

First and foremost, whatever you do, don’t forget to brush the swimming pool which includes the steps, benches, and interior finish. This is probably one of the most important steps that get overlooked easily. Anytime you forget to brush, dirt and other debris can build up on the interior finish, steps, and benches. This can lead to staining and potential algae growth especially if you have old plaster or Pebble Tec. Even though your chlorine usage will go way down, you will still need to balance your water chemistry so don’t forget to check your pH on a regular basis and make sure your Total Alkalinity (TA) is balanced as well. One of the other biggest differences with your swimming pool is your filter run times. Typically, most homeowners will save money because they lower their filter run times but if you live in a colder environment and one that doesn’t close down pools please remember to run the pump especially when the air temperature is below 32 degrees to prevent freezing from occurring. If you have a new pump or a variable speed most will turn on automatically to prevent this but don’t forget to check

Finally, skimming out your pool and keeping the skimmer and pump baskets free of debris is vital. Storms can and will happen during the wintertime. When they occur you will want to remove the debris and keep flow into and out of the skimmer basket to prevent the pump from running dry. Again, we know it’s easy to forget about your pool especially when you aren’t using it but remember the investment and how much money might go into replacing things especially when it only takes a few minutes to get this done in the off-season.
