Lowering Calcium Hardness With Reverse Osmosis

Moderately high levels of calcium in our tap water in the Dallas Ft. Worth area is pretty much the norm and even though swimming pools need a certain amount of it what happens when you have too much? If you are concerned about your residential and commercial swimming pool and the lifespan of it, then knowing that calcium levels rise in your swimming pool so do the number of problems. Industry standards state that the optimal amount of Calcium Hardness (CH) in a swimming pool is between 200 and 400 parts per million (ppm). In some parts of the country, this is possible but with calcium coming out of our tap at a minimum of 300 ppm it’s literally impossible here. That’s why we recommend changing out the water in your swimming pool a minimum of every two years.

As water evaporates, calcium, magnesium, and other hardness minerals will remain in solution and gradually increase in concentration. This will not only cause Calcium Hardness levels to increase but also Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) as well. Over time, this will become an issue for the following reasons:

  • Scaling of your decorative tile
  • Scaling of your interior finish
  • Scaling on your filtration equipment which can cause malfunction.
  • Calcium scaling on your water features and spillways.
  • Increased chemical usage.
  • Scaling on your salt chlorinator if you have one

Mobile Filtration For Swimming Pools

When any of the above happens it can be an expensive proposition to remove it because you need to hire a professional tile cleaner. At Weber Pools, we are committed to providing you with a variety of services to make your swimming experience more enjoyable, that’s why we offer you The Puripool Process. This is an alternative to draining a swimming pool by using Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration to recycle your pool water instead. If you choose a drain and refill, please note that this process can take 2-3 days, you will be filling your swimming pool up with the Dallas Ft. Worth hard water again, and causing structural damage to your interior finish is always a possibility. Whereas, if you choose to have us recycle your swimming pool water instead, we can lower all of the following without draining the pool:

  • Calcium Hardness
  • Cyanuric Acid (CYA)
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
  • Salts
  • Iron
  • Copper
  • Magnesium
  • Nitrates
  • Phosphates
  • Waterborne Diseases

The benefits of using the Puripool Process are numerous. Since the water level never changes in the swimming pool, the potential for structural damage is non-existent, we can conserve up to 85% of the water in the pool, we guarantee calcium levels lower than tap water and since you can swim in the pool while the pool is being filtered, there’s no downtime! We can achieve this by bringing our RO Mobile Filtration Trailer to your residential or commercial property. The trailer is equipped with RO membranes that have the ability to give you the best quality of water to swim in.
