How much salt does a salt system use?

Salt systems do not deplete salt; an initial 3000 – 4500 ppm (depending on salt system maker) of salt is put in the pool on startup. Salt is only lost from loss of water, i.e.: splashing, leaky pool, backwashing, etc.

Will a salt system save me money?

Maybe. Because of the sizeable initial investment everything has to work in your favor, i.e. no leaks in pool, cell lasts at least 5 years, etc. for it to save money. Salt systems are a water quality enhancer which allows bathers hours of enjoyment without eye and skin irritations among other benefits.

How long will it take to heat my pool?

There are a lot of factors that go into this calculation but generally in the Dallas/Fort worth area you can expect 2-4 degrees increase per hour. The next question asked, is “how much will it cost? “ Again there are some variables but in general figure $2.50 per hour for continuous operation.

How long do L.E.D pool and spa lights last?

In theory, a life time! Manufacturers claim that the light should last 20,000 – 30,000 hours. It has been our experience that all lights are not built equally, brand matters here.

I am worried about my kids being trapped on the drains; can something be done about this?

First of all supervision is key. Make sure the main drain covers are VGB compliant and free of any defects. If you still want additional peace of mind there are several products that can be retrofitted to your pool which will break the vacuum on the drain line freeing the swimmer.

How long should regular white plaster last?

There are a lot of variables in this question. I have seen plaster fail in as few as 2 years and last as long as 12; generally 8 – 10 years is the norm.

My equipment is old and needs a complete redo, how much has equipment changed and how do I make sure I spend my money wisely?

Pool and Spa equipment has gone through a renaissance in the last 10 years. Find a company you feel comfortable with that has a good knowledge of the various equipment and manufacturers. Don’t base your decision on price here; saving a few hundred will most likely cost you thousands in repairs latter.

I really enjoy my time off and don’t want to spend every waking moment tending to a pool, how much time does it take to properly take care of a pool?

There are many factors that affect pool care; no two pools will be the same, but in general 15 minutes to 1 hour per week.

What will owning a pool contribute to my electric bill?

A well-designed and equipped pool will cost you between $15 – $60 depending on water features and equipment size and type.

How much should it cost me a month for chemical and supplies?

You will spend somewhere between $25 and $40 per month.

How often do I need to clean my filter?

A minimum of twice a year or as indicated by your pressure gauge.

If I want to have my pool professionally cared for, what should I expect to pay?

Prices are all over the board, dependent on service level and frequency. Most companies will offer various service levels and be between $90 and $150 per month for weekly service.

My pool equipment is not working and it is supposed to freeze all weekend. What do I do?

Drain the water by pulling the drain plugs on your filter, pumps and heaters and kill the power. You can also tent your equipment and put a light under cover to generate a small amount of heat. Call us and schedule the repair.

My pool equipment is not working and no one can fix it for several days & I’m afraid it may go green. What should I do?

Super shock your water. Add about 3-4 pounds of shock to a bucket of water and broadcast it around the edge of pool.
