Swimming Pool Auto Fill Installation Can Save You Time and Money!

Pool Auto Fill Installation at Weber Pools

As a residential and commercial swimming pool owner do you still drag a hose out to your swimming pool to fill it up every couple of days? If you live in extremely hot climates it might even need to be done more than that! There are many things that Weber Pools can do to make your job easier and adding an auto-fill is one of them. We’ve heard a lot of swimming pool owners complain about dragging out the house, having to sit around waiting for it to fill up and even mention the dreaded, “what do I do when I’m on vacation?” Well, if you don’t want to bother your family, friends or even your next-door neighbor installing one today will definitely make your life easier!

They are relatively easy to install, they can save you time and prevent your water level from getting too low. They take a headache out of the worry about your water levels when you aren’t around and are relatively inexpensive to install. Here are some of the benefits of owning an auto-fill:

  • Water regulation is optimized through leveler systems
  • Wasted water is kept to a minimum
  • Because it is automatic, it diminishes the need to check water levels weekly
  • Works on its own
  • Leveler systems maximize water usage

Water loss can be detrimental to your pool once it becomes extreme (summer time). First, water loss can shift the balance of pool chemistry and ultimately affect the cleanliness and quality of your water. Additionally, water loss can cause damage to the rest of your pool equipment once it falls below the skimmer inlets and the air is sucked into the system. If this isn’t caught soon enough it can cause damage to your filtration equipment!

Automatic swimming pool water leveler systems are designed to automatically adjust the water level of swimming pools. A pool leveler is a great addition that protects your investment. You can either have one installed or some you can buy in the pool store. Either way, we highly recommend them for peace of mind and to protect your investment. Warranty Concerns With PebbleTec Swimming Pools

When installing a new pool there are many different interior finishes that you can choose from. If you decide to go with PebbleTec or PebbleSheen it is vital you familiarize yourself with their warranty guidelines. They are strict with them and your warranty will be voided if you don’t follow the directions carefully! Specifically, following the recommended startup procedures is extremely important because that’s where the biggest mistakes are made. In the end, this could be the difference between the warranty covering damage or not. The interior finish in the first month is extremely sensitive to water chemistry and falling outside the guidelines could void any warranty. That’s why we hope this blog post helps to inform you of the following:

  • The break-in period
  • Startup procedures
  • Full up
  • Proper water chemistry

Break-In Period

This is the time period directly after the interior finish was installed. This period ends as soon as the enhancing process is complete and builder turns it over to you for startup.

Start-Up Procedures

The startup process includes following all directions extremely close. In this period you will need to test your water chemistry frequently, brush the interior finish every day, and add all chemicals necessary to keep it chemically balanced. Since the interior finish develops most of its durability in the first month that is approximately how long the startup process will last.

Fill Up

This process includes filling the pool all the way up to mid tile line with no stoppage. YOU MUST FILL UP THE POOL WITH TAP WATER….. DO NOT FILL UP THE POOL WITH SOFT WATER AND DON’T STOP THE FLOW OF WATER BECAUSE THIS CAN CAUSE A “WATERLINE” MARK ON THE INTERIOR FINISH. At which time the pool is filled, you will also want to turn on the filtration equipment and run it for a minimum of five (5) days.

Proper Water Chemistry

After you fill up the swimming pool you will want to make sure the water chemistry falls within the acceptable ranges listed below for the first month:

  • pH – 7.0-7.4
  • Total Alkalinity – 70-100ppm
  • Calcium Hardness – 150-250ppm (this can be challenging in certain areas)
  • Chlorine – 1-3ppm
  • CYA – 30-50ppm

During this time you will also want to brush the interior finish three times a day for the first three days and twice a day for the next ten days! You also don’t want to use any pool cleaner with wheels because it can leave tracks. Do your best to adhere to the above values and recommendations because failure to do so will void the warranty and in the end burn a huge hole in your wallet!

Benefits of Owning a Hot Tub

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Have you been thinking about installing a hot tub/spa in your backyard? During the long, dreary cold winter months this isn’t uncommon. Hot tubs are great for relaxation, relieving sore muscles and of course warming up too. They are also a great place to entertain friends and family or perfect when you are looking to add a little charm to your backyard paradise. With hot tubs, they do require work because of the higher temperatures so we hope this blog post informs you on what you will need to do or why hiring us will make your life a lot easier.

If you do not have the proper balance of chemical levels in your hot tub, it will never be truly clean, and it could be potentially harmful to you and your family. Keeping the appropriate levels of chemicals in the water will make it easier for you when it comes time to clean your hot tub – so we recommend investing in an inexpensive water testing kit from your local pool supply store, home center, or hiring us to maintain the appropriate chemicals to maintain proper sanitation. Since there are various types of scum that are found in the water it is best diagnosed by testing with the kit mentioned above, or by taking a sample of the hot tub water to your local pool supply store, so that they can diagnose any problems with the water, and they can point you to the right chemicals for your particular situation.

The next important step in maintaining a clean and healthy spa is to regularly check and clean the filters. You can do this in a variety of different ways:

The Quick Rinse

Most hot tubs use cartridge filters that can easily be removed and washed down with a garden hose. This type of rinse is recommended at least once a week if you use your hot tub regularly.

Chemical Soaking

You can buy chemicals in a pool store to soak your filters in overnight. Please be sure to read the directions and this type of cleaning should occur about 2-3 times a year or times when your hot tub is in heavy use mode.

Please be sure to inspect the filter pleats each time you clean them for tears. If this happens, you must replace the filter. To prevent downtime, having a second set of filters for you hot tub would be a good idea.

Ultimately, you will want to make sure you do all of the above to keep your hot tub functioning at all times. Keeping it clean can be among the least favored chores around your home. Weber Pools can keep your hot tub looking good and performing at optimal levels for your continued enjoyment. Contact us today to learn more!

Recently, we had the pleasure of working on a pool remodel that we would like to highlight in this blog post to give you an idea of what we are capable of doing. This was a unique project because we don’t get asked it very often but they wanted to make their dive pool into a play pool. Basically, this required us to take out the 8′ deep end and make it 5′ instead. To make this happen we had to shallow it out along with a complete remodel. We also had the opportunity to set all new Jandy equipment too. The swimming pool industry is seeing more and more play pools because it gives families the opportunity to play games like basketball or volleyball in the swimming pool.

In addition we also set all new Jandy equipment which included a filter, pump and motor along with a heater. We also did a full new plumbing job with the equipment and pool. Check out one of our earlier blog posts on why we recommend Jandy products over all others.
