With major drought news hitting the headlines in Texas again, homeowners with swimming pools need to start thinking about how they can save water. One of the biggest ways to make an impact on our current drought is by not draining your swimming pool. A residential swimming pool can save on average 20,000-gallons of water in a 24-hour period and a commercial swimming pool owner can save so much more!

That’s why at Weber Pools we use Reverse Osmosis (RO) mobile filtration on your swimming pool water and we want this blog post to help explain to you how it works and why it’s the best solution for your swimming pool.

RO filtration might seem complicated, but it’s really quite a simple water filtration process. Reverse Osmosis has been used for numerous years to desalinate water and convert it to drinking water. Most commonly, people are familiar with the under the sink RO systems. They are extremely common but are also extremely inefficient when it comes to water conservation. Typically, an under the sink RO will waste seven gallons of water before it produces one good gallon of drinking water. The reason for this is due to water pressure. Simply put, the more water pressure, the less water loss.

Reverse Osmosis is a process in which dissolved inorganic solids (such as salts) are removed from a solution (such as water). This is accomplished by water pressure pushing the water through a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane only allows the water to pass through, not the impurities or contaminates (like calcium, total dissolved solids, cyanuric acid, waterborne diseases and salts). These contaminants are removed from the water as both of them are channeled into two separate systems. Ultimately, these contaminates go out a separate waste stream.

Our mobile trailers are completely insulated, they run twenty-four hours a day because they are no louder than an A/C unit.  They are equipped with a 3-Phase, 480V diesel generator, and we guarantee that the quality of water returning to your pool is better than tap. The way we do that is, you can actually drink the water returning to the pool!! Due to the fact that we have booster pumps in our trailer, the water pressure as it hits the membranes is around 200psi which equates to conserving on average 85% of the existing water in the swimming pool.

The need for this service has never been greater than now. The drought in Texas is the worst it has been in three years! The concept of mobile filtration has been around for decades and using it to purify swimming pool water is relatively new. When temperatures warm up, the risks of draining a swimming pool are high.  With our mobile filtration trailer, we can lower Calcium Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids, Cyanuric Acid and so much more in your swimming pool without exposing the interior finish!

So, why hassle with pumping the water from your pool, paying for the refill and then trying to figure out the complicated chemicals needed to rebalance your pool water, when Weber Pools can take care of it for you? In less than a day, we can filter your existing pool water and lower Calcium Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Cyanuric Acid (CYA), phosphates, salt, bacteria, waterborne diseases and provide you with the best quality of water for you and your family to swim in!
